Color-coated aluminum coil is a product obtained by applying a surface coating and coloration to aluminum sheets or coils. Common types include fluorocarbon‑coated aluminum coil and polyester‑coated aluminum coil, which are widely used in applications such as aluminum composite panels, aluminum single‑layer panels, aluminum honeycomb panels, aluminum ceiling tiles, roofing materials, trim profiles, beverage cans, and electronic products. With highly stable performance and excellent corrosion resistance, it is a modern building material.
Production process
Color-coated aluminum coils are primarily manufactured using a roll‑coating process, which comprises key steps such as pretreatment, coating (with both primer and topcoat applied via roll coating), curing, and winding. Compared with conventional spray‑coating methods, the pre‑roll‑coating process offers several advantages: high paint utilization—exceeding 95%—uniform and fine coating thickness, strong adhesion, and a dense, micropore‑free coating film.

Color-coated aluminum coil coatings are primarily categorized into polyester‑coated aluminum coils (PE) and fluorocarbon‑coated aluminum coils (PVDF). Polyester coating is applied through multiple baking cycles on the aluminum surface, forming a continuous solid film that provides both protective and decorative functions. It offers excellent UV resistance; the polyester resin is synthesized from high‑molecular polymers containing ester linkages as monomers, with added alkyd resins and UV absorbers. Depending on gloss level, it is available in matte and high‑gloss finishes. This coating delivers a wide range of colors while imparting moderate sheen and smoothness, and can also create various textural effects. The coating safeguards the substrate by mitigating the adverse impacts of atmospheric factors such as ultraviolet radiation, wind and rain, frost and snow, temperature fluctuations, freeze–thaw cycles, corrosive gases, and microbial activity. This material is well suited for interior decoration, signage, and other applications.

The product exhibits the flexural and fracture resistance required of decorative panels, and under all-season climatic conditions, variations in wind pressure, temperature, and humidity do not cause warping, deformation, or swelling.
5. Environmental friendliness:
- It is resistant to salt, alkali, and acid‑rain corrosion; it does not corrode itself or harbor harmful microorganisms; it emits no toxic gases; it prevents rusting of keels and fasteners; and it is flame‑retardant, meeting or exceeding the national B1‑grade standard.
